Happy New Year!!!

I do hope everyone had a fun and safe time bringing in the new year. I did. I also took a few minutes to reflect on some highlights of 2010. Among them, I turned the big 5-0, my husband and I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary, our son bought his first home, our oldest daughter gave us a beautiful new grandson (bringing the total to 4 wonderful grandchildren), and our youngest daughter returned home safely from a tour of duty in Iraq. What a wonderful year for our family.

It was also a wonderful year for our OWH family. We now have a registered trademark. We also won 2nd place in a Joann’s Craft for the Cause contest, landing us $25,000. What a wonderful blessing, that will help us get the record breaking numbers of cards to our heroes. My sister and I took on a project to get Any Hero mail, we hoped for 750 pieces and ended up with over 1100!! Very exciting for us and our nation’s heroes.

I hope that 2011 is just as wonderful of a year. I’m sure it will be, all we need to do is remember to lokk for all the good things that happen to us. Happy 2011 everyone!!

Final Holiday Challenge

Today is the final OWH holiday challenge.I thought it would be difficult to make a card using 10 or 20 items, but I found it to be very easy. I’m still stuck on the children’s cards.I used 1 strip of striped paper, 1 lion sticker, 4 mini brads,2 layers under the lion and 2 layers for the sentiment equaling 10! This is also my last post of this year. I hope to do more in this next year. I’d like to wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year! Please don’t forget to take a few moments to reflect on all of 2010’s blessings!

Holiday Challenges

I had intended on blogging everyday during the challenges, but…. now it’s been a week since the last entry. That will be one of my New Year’s resolutions. Learn more about my computer and blog more.

We are already all the way up to challenge #10. I love these challenges, not only do they motivate me to make more cards, they also inspire me. There are so many great cardmakers with beautiful cards out there. I have gotten many ideas and learned new techniques.

What wonderful news OWH received today. Operation Write Home now has a registered trademark. In honor of that, today’s challenge is Round R’s. I don’t have any sentiments that start with R, but I have lots of paper with circles, so that’s what I did. A whole lot of round!! I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful New Year’s Eve tomorrow! And please take a few moments to reflect on some of the wonderful memories of the year gone by.

Holiday Vacation Challenge #3

I went shopping at Joann’s today to buy goodies for the new Cuttlebug I got for Christmas *grin*. When I told the gal at the checkout that I made cards for OWH and that we had won 2nd place in the Craft for a Cause contest, she asked if  Iwas buying stuff to make cards, when I answered yes, she gave me an additional 15% off!! Love Joann’s!!!!

Today’s challenge is to make it sparkle, add bling…. Here’s what I came up with.

Holiday Vacation Challenge #3

Hello!!  Today I went shopping at Joann’s. I got a Cuttlebug for Christmas and needed all the fun things to go with it. I explained to the clerk that I make cards for OWH and that we won 2nd place in the Craft for a Cause contest and she asked if I was buying stuff to make cards, when I answered yes, she gave me an additional 15% off!!

  Today’s challenge is… Make it sparkle, add bling… Here’s what I did.

Hope you have all had a fantastic day!!!

Holiday Vacation Challenge #2

Good Day Everyone!!

YAY!! Random.org picked my number as winner of the prize for Challenge #1. The prize is a bonus, what I really planned on getting from these challenges is more experience making cards and blogging. The prize is an extra smile! the 2nd challenge is use up some winter supplies. At OWH, we are weeks ahead of the seasons and holidays when making cards. (We need to be sure to get them to our heroes early enough that they can get them to their families on time.)

Making a winter themed card today is very easy, for added mojo, I just look out my window and watch as the snow is falling (the beginning of what the weatherman says will be another 8″).We already have 3 1/2 ft of it on the ground!! At least we won’t have to just dream of a white Christmas!!

I think our heroes will need a lot of Thank you cards after the holidays, so this is the card I made…

Have a great day, all!!!                                                                                                                  ~ANNIE~

OWH Holiday Vacation Challenge #1

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!! Today is the first Holiday vacation challenge on the S&S blog over at OWH. This is going to be so much fun!!  Today’s challenge….pick a technique from the tutorials 0n S&S blog that you’ve never done before and try it. The hardest part for me was choosing one. There were many that I haven’t tried. Since my daughter and son-in-law bought me a Cuttlebug for Christmas, I chose foil embossing. I really enjoyed it. I can see me doing a lot more of that, after buying some new fun supplies, that is. This is what I came up with.

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!!
